LP21 proudly presents this year’s Bomba y Plena Community Workshops Children's Recital: “Desde Puerto Rico a Nueva York”. Desde Puerto Rico a Nueva York tells the story of New York City children who journey to Puerto Rico to immerse themselves in their explorations of Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena. In this musical story, the children come across  the unique styles of music, drumming, and dance found in the various island regions they visit. Their ventures ready the children’s knowledge and connections to Bomba and Plena - experiences they carry back home with them upon their return to New York City. It is then, in their own backyards, that they recall the connections made, embracing them with their own city flavor, and happily showcasing the songs and dances learned with their friends and family.
